Pique's family has a deep rooted love for the arts. They own a shop that Kurt inherited from his father's muggle family. Her parents were slightly worried that neither of their children would inherit the magic blood in the family. They were put a ease when Pique at age three was climbing a ladder, slipped and fell, but glided to the ground and was unharmed. No one outside of the family knows of the ladder incident. Further proof of her magic blood was shown when, at the age of five, she transfigured a girl's hair to hay because she was teasing her.

Pique doesn't have many friends outside of Hogwarts that aren't boys. Ever since the hair incident, she found herself alienated from the girls her age. She liked it that way. Instead, she played games with the boys. Since she was always playing rough games, she switched from her usual dresses to pants, which caused her mother much grief. As she got older, she began to wear pants whenever possible. One day, as she was restocking shelves, she felt her skirt flip up. She looked down to find a boy trying to look up her skirt. She kicked out and gave him a black eye. Her brother chased him out of the store, making him lose two teeth in the process. That was the final straw, and she refused to wear skirts after that. He mother forced her into a deal where she had to wear one skirt or dress a week or she'd burn all of he pants and not give her a choice. Pique agreed.
